My condolences / Steve Parrott (New Friend )
I read your son's story in the SISC. I am truly sorry for your loss. Words will not be able to heal your sorrow. My family has also gone through a loss on December 20. I lost my father to brain cancer. He was 56 years old. Many friends said he was too young. My responce has been Jesus was 33 when God called him home. When our work on this Earth is done, Jesus calls us home. Your son was 8, his work was done. My sorrow has been overcomed by my joy in knowing that my Dad is in Heaven. I would not want my Dad back and he would not want to come back, especially in the condition he was in. I have not gone through the experience of losing a child, and don't know how and if I would be able to handle it. But God has given us examples of those in the Bible who had experienced heart ache. Lot comes to mind.
I don't know if the words above have given you any comfront, but if you lean close to Jesus, He will give you what you need to continue.
The "great sadness" has a conqueor, his name is Jesus.

Hi Gillespie Family, I waited on you guys at Rock Bottom at Desert Ridge, when you came to Az for Gunner's treatment. You were all such a nice people despite what you were going through. You handed me your card and I have logged in periodically to check on Gunner. Your family has inspired me as a Mom and so many people that came in contact with you through your travels. You have giving so much strength to others through your determination and faith. It is very apparent that you never gave up and always put Gunner first. I am deeply saddened and sorry to hear about Gunner. I wish you strength and positivity in the road ahead. Thank you for touching my life- Sincerely, Meriah HouserClose

Gillespie Family, Altough I didn't know Gunner, he still had an impact on my life. I've learned not to take life for granted, and to never give up your dreams. November 15th, 2008, As an 8th grader at Centralia Junior High School, my teammates and I made a long trip from Centralia,Illinois to Benton, Kentucky to support my team mates, and Gunner. It's was a really long trip, but it was worth it. I really wish I could have particpated in the games, but the Varsity Tigerettes had too many games. Your family will be in the prayer of the Tigers and Tigerettes.

Dear Gillespie Family, I have followed little Gunner's CaringBridge website for a long time, and even though I have not written prior to this ------------ you have been in our prayers. Our deepest sympathy to your family in the loss of little Gunner, but be assured he is now cancer free and experiencing a beautiful new life. He will now take care of you!
I have been introduced to many families through CaringBridge bearing this same heart break of children with DIPG. Little Ellie Willaert is my cousin's daughter, and thus it has hit very close to home.
Continued prayers for you during this difficult time.

My heart hurts for your family. I first heard about Gunner's passing when I picked my daughter up from school. She opened the van door and with tears running down her face, she told me. I can't even begin to describe what I felt. I was never fortunate enough to meet this amazing young man, but his bravery and courage touched my heart as it did so many others. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. May your faith and love keep you strong. God bless you all. Close

I know as a parent there are no words that can comfort enough and bring back Gunner. His story has made me realize the importance of holding my children each day and being thankful for their health. The courage your son had was an amazing inspiration to me. I pray that time heals your hurt and that you know that your son will be in the hearts of many forever.... like ours.

I found out today about Gunner during the announcments at RHS I started crying in class. He was so young but I don't think that i could fight as long and as hard as he did. My dearest sympathies go out to Mr. and Mrs. Gillespie and Gunner's sister and his other family members.
